Of The Mist

from Wings That Shouldn't Be by Vertigo Fox

lyrics

A cat came to me in the evening
Said he needed a warrior friend
The horn on his helm was shined spotless
But the claws on his hands, stained with red

Said they required a strong-willed champion
As his tail coiled and nervously twitched
And, as he named his foe with a hiss
We set off to join the warriors of mist
...
They fade into the mist,
I seem to fade with them

Seems I will fight
For their honour their way

The claws come out
Fight begins with the pounce
Never need armour’s hold
So long as world’s shroud enfolds
You quickly learn how to become one with the clouds
As long as you share their smell and shape
And if the spines on their backs mark this place for attack
Then my fangs will find all their foes' flanks

And fight cold things away
From this dark jungle city
Now under enemy sway
In the fur and flesh, singing

Floating up with the fog
Till we coalesce
Winged Wolf came back to me in the morning
This is their essence

Vertigo Fox enjoys long walks and hikes, though the cats he inevitably encounters always tell him they're prowls.
