On Stormy Seas

from False Eyes EP by Vertigo Fox

about

Structure was inspired from a fictional dolphin language in a book I re-read recently. Hence the odd formatting.
Also, recording solos on a 27-beat pattern is hard. Who knew, eh? :)

lyrics

You seem haunted, left alive, by someone lethal
You would leave your ocean behind, for one much deeper
You’re the spotted tree-beast, striking from the ferns
Unchaining lands from whence you know, you can’t return

The power never fails
If you just steer with your tail

On stormy seas, join with me
Take us, not home
But where we need to be
Air blowing free, ours to breathe
On windy seas
Let this wet world sing

The worst of men or best of monsters
We choose our shapes
To make our escapes
The deepest dive, the highest mountain
We won't dig our tomb
Just for the monsoon
When your land's so broken
Shape yourself for the ocean

Learn and you'll never fail
Just steer with your tail
...
You never can fail
Storm’s energy runs off you like trails
The power never fails
Singing with the dolphins and the whales
...
